Fake Social Media Post Generators: What They Are For
A drawn post card is a mock-up, not evidence. Here is what these generators are genuinely useful for, where the line is, and how to stay on the right side of it.
A fake social media post generator draws a platform's post card from text you type, and exports it as an image. It is a mock-up tool, not an evidence tool: the card proves nothing about who posted what, because nothing was posted. That single distinction decides every legitimate and illegitimate use of one.

Four uses cover almost all of it, and none of them involve deceiving anybody.
- Slides and articles about something that was posted. Screenshotting the real
thing drags in a sidebar, a cookie banner, a notification and whoever else was in the feed. A drawn card is the post and nothing else.
- Mock-ups of copy that has not been published yet. Showing a client or a team what
a caption will look like in place, before it is written into the scheduler.
- Teaching examples. A real post dates instantly — the account changes its name, the
post is deleted, the platform redesigns the card. A drawn one does not.
- Checking where the text is cut. Instagram hides a caption past roughly 125
characters; Pinterest cuts a Pin title around 40. Seeing the sentence that disappears is the whole point, and it is why these tools overlap with the preview family — see Instagram caption length.
Where the line is
Passing off a drawn card as a screenshot of a real post is impersonation, defamation, or both, depending on where you are and whose name is on it. A disclaimer in a caption does not undo it, because the image travels on its own: the screenshot gets reposted, the caption does not.
The specific things that turn a mock-up into a forgery:
- A real person's or brand's name and handle on words they did not write.
- A verified badge, which is the single element that makes a card claim
authenticity.
- A real photograph composited in, which removes the last visual cue that the image
was made rather than captured.
- Presenting it without context in a thread, a video, or a news story.
The first is a decision only you can make. The other three are decisions a tool can make for you, which is what the next section is about.
Three rules these generators follow
Every card on this site is drawn to the same three constraints, and they are not configurable.
No verification badge, on any card, ever. There is no legitimate use for a fake blue tick that outweighs the obvious illegitimate ones, so the option does not exist.
No real photograph in the media slot. The Instagram and Pinterest cards draw a marked placeholder at the platform's own aspect ratio. Compositing an image into a real-looking post would make these a forgery kit rather than a mock-up tool — and the placeholder still answers the question people actually have, which is where the caption falls. Drop your own image in behind the card in whatever you are building.
A warning on every export. Once in the result, once under the canvas.
There is one deliberate exception: an avatar can be added, because a mock-up of your own account is a normal thing to want. It is read in your browser and drawn straight onto the canvas, so nothing is uploaded and there is no copy of it on our side.

A drawn card versus a real screenshot
If what you need is a clean image of a post that genuinely exists, a mock-up is the wrong tool — you would be retyping something you already have, and introducing an opportunity to get it wrong.
The better options, in order: embed the post, which keeps it under its author's control and disappears if they delete it (how to embed a social media post); screenshot it and crop hard; or, for X specifically, use the post screenshot generator, which draws a clean card at any size.

Is it legal to make a fake social media post?
Making a mock-up is. Publishing one as though a real person or business said something they did not is a different matter — defamation and impersonation laws apply regardless of how the image was produced.
Why will these tools not draw a verified badge?
Because a badge is what makes a card claim to be authentic. There is no legitimate use for a fake one that outweighs the obvious misuse, so it is not an option.
Why can I not add the actual photo to an Instagram mock-up?
By design. A generator that composited a real image into a real-looking post would be a forgery kit rather than a mock-up tool. The placeholder sits at Instagram's own aspect ratio, so your image lines up exactly if you drop it in behind the card.
Are the images I make uploaded anywhere?
No. Every card is drawn on a canvas in your own browser, including any avatar you add. There is no request to inspect and nothing stored on our side.
