About this tool
Bluesky keeps a public read API open, so a post’s images can be asked for rather than inferred from a link card. You get every image on the post, the alt text the author wrote, and the original upload from the author’s own server.

Why this one gives you more
Every other platform in this category has to be read through the tags it publishes for link cards, and a link card names one image. Bluesky is built to be read: AT Protocol keeps an unauthenticated read API open so other clients can work, and asking it directly returns the whole post.

Public posts only. An account that has asked to be excluded from logged-out views is not served by the public read API, and this tool does not sign in to get around that.

What is the difference between full size and original upload?
Full size is Bluesky’s re-encoded copy, served from its CDN. The original upload is the file the author posted, fetched from their own server by its content hash — the same bytes, nothing re-compressed.
Why does the alt text matter?
Bluesky prompts for it and its users write it, so it is frequently a real caption rather than a bare description. It is also the only part of an image post that a screen reader can read, so dropping it when you repost the picture makes the copy worse for the people who need it most.

Check the link points at a single post rather than a profile, and that the post has not been deleted. Handles change hands, so a link copied a long time ago may name an account that no longer exists.
Does it work with quote posts?
It returns the images on the post you linked to, not the images on the post it quotes. Those belong to a different author and have their own link — paste that one if it is what you want.
