Overview
About this tool
Expands a seed keyword against YouTube’s autocomplete to surface the questions and phrases people are actually typing, ranked longest-first because those are the searches a small channel can still rank for.
Instructions
How to use it
Enter a seed of two or three words — a single word returns searches too broad to act on. The default run queries YouTube’s suggestion endpoint once per modifier and groups what comes back the way the search box behaves: the direct completions for your seed, then the question and intent phrasings, then the A–Z sweep. Inside each group the order is YouTube’s own, not ours.
Why there are no search volumes
Nobody outside Google has YouTube search volumes. Every tool that shows them is modelling them from Google Ads data for web search, which is a different index with different behaviour. A number is the one thing on a keyword report anybody actually acts on, so inventing one would be the most damaging thing this tool could do. What you get instead is certainty: every row is a search YouTube itself suggests, which means people type it.
YouTube’s order, kept
The endpoint returns each list ranked, and that ranking is the closest thing in free data to popularity — so the rows appear exactly as the search box would drop them down. “Sourdough” is unwinnable; “how to fix a sourdough starter that won’t rise” is a video you can make this week, and the questions group is where those live.
Questions
Frequently asked
How is this different from a paid keyword tool?
Paid tools add estimated volume and competition scores on top of this same suggestion data. If the estimates matter to you they are worth paying for. If what you need is “what do people actually search”, this is the source those tools are built on.
Why did the A–Z sweep stop early?
It makes 26 requests, and the tool holds itself to a 15-second budget so one slow run cannot tie up a worker. It tells you how far it got — run it again and the cached portion returns instantly.
Should I put these words in my tags?
Put them in the title and the first line of the description, where they carry weight. Tags barely count for ranking any more.
