Three things it refuses to do
- Cut anything that changes a claim. “About thirty” and “about right” are the same word doing opposite jobs, so hedges are listed and left in.
- Edit quoted speech. Filler inside quotation marks is how the person talked.
- Rewrite the passive voice. Turning a passive sentence around needs to know who did the thing, and the sentence often does not say.

What counts as a filler word?
Anything that can come out without changing what the sentence claims: “um”, “basically”, “to be honest”, “in this video”, and the long-winded constructions like “due to the fact that” that have a shorter exact equivalent.
Why did it leave “I think” in?
Because a hedge is only filler when it is hedging nothing. “I think about thirty” and “I think you are wrong” are different sentences, and only you know which one you wrote.
What is the difference between the three strengths?
“Safe” removes only what carries nothing at all. “Standard” adds the wordy constructions with a shorter equivalent. “Hard” also cuts the intensifiers — right for a script, sometimes wrong for a personal caption where “really” is how you talk.
