Overview
About this tool
Two routes in one tool: a post link gives you the picture behind it with the link’s expiry read out of the URL, and a Page link goes to Facebook’s own public endpoint for the profile picture at every size it will serve.
Instructions
How to use it
Paste either kind of link. A post, photo or video link gives you the picture that post publishes. A Page link gives you that Page’s profile picture instead.
Page pictures come from Facebook’s own endpoint
Facebook serves any Page’s profile picture without a login, at a size you ask for, and answers with the dimensions it actually has. So the sizes in the result are measured rather than guessed, and the last row is the copy Facebook stores rather than the small default the endpoint hands out.
Posts are a harder read
Facebook answers signed-out requests with a sign-in page far more often than the other platforms here, including for posts that are public when you are logged in. When that happens the result says so, because "Facebook declined" and "the post has no image" are different problems with different answers.
Questions
Frequently asked
Can it get a personal profile’s picture?
No. The endpoint behind the Page route is for Pages. A personal profile’s picture is shown to the people it is shared with, and this tool does not sign in to become one of them.
A twelve-photo album came back as one image.
A post publishes one picture to its link card no matter how many it contains. Open the individual photo, copy that link, and paste it here.
The download link expired.
Facebook signs its image URLs with an expiry, which is why the result shows how long each one has left. Save the file; a saved link goes stale.
Does it work with fb.watch and share links?
Yes. Both are followed to wherever they land before anything is read, so the short link from the share sheet is fine to paste.
