How to use it
Describe the video, pick whether it is a Short or a long-form upload, and run it. Adding two or three related keywords sharpens the tags noticeably — “catching butterflies” gives more to work with than “butterflies”.
Where the tags come from
Most of them are built from YouTube’s autocomplete: the phrases the search box completes are searches people demonstrably type, which is the closest thing to real demand that is available without a paid data source. When autocomplete has little to say about a topic, the list is topped up from your own words and those rows say so.
Why there are no video counts
Other generators print a “used by 1M videos” figure beside each tag. Nobody outside Google has hashtag volumes, and that number is the only one on the page anyone would act on, so we do not print one. The breadth column is a shape heuristic — short tags are crowded, long compounds are quiet — and it is labelled as such.
YouTube’s actual limits
Fifteen hashtags in the description is the cap; anything after the fifteenth is dropped. The first three appear above your video title, so those three are the ones that matter. Go past sixty hashtags on an upload and YouTube ignores every hashtag on it.

How many hashtags should I actually use?
Between three and five that genuinely describe the video. YouTube keeps fifteen in the description, but a wall of loosely related tags helps nobody find you and past sixty it ignores all of them.
Should a long-form video use #shorts?
No. It pushes the video in front of an audience expecting something under a minute, and they swipe away — which is a retention signal working against you. Pick the long-form format and the tool leaves those tags out.
Why do the results change by region?
Autocomplete is regional, sometimes completely. Set the region to where your audience actually watches, not where you are sitting.
Do hashtags help a video rank?
A little, and mostly for discovery rather than ranking — they group your video onto a hashtag page and give YouTube another signal about the topic. They do not rescue a weak title or thumbnail.
