Overview
About this tool
Applies the four named title styles to one title and then shows the handful of words the styles actually treat differently, which on most titles is two or three. Chicago lowercases every preposition; AP and APA only the short ones; sentence case cannot find a proper noun, so it asks you for them rather than guessing.
Instructions
How to use it
Paste a title. All four styles are applied at once, each with its own copy button.
The disagreement table is the point
Most words are capitalised the same way by every guide. The second table lists only the ones that differ, with the rule behind each — usually a preposition, because Chicago lowercases all of them at any length and AP and APA only lowercase the ones of three letters or fewer.
Proper nouns have to be told
No case tool can tell “Turkey” the country from “turkey” the bird — they are the same string. Sentence case is where that bites, so add brands, places and names in the second field and they are never lowercased.
Questions
Frequently asked
What is the difference between AP and Chicago title case?
Prepositions. AP capitalises any word of four letters or more, so “Over” and “Through” stay capital. Chicago lowercases prepositions at any length, so both go down. Everything else is largely the same.
Should a YouTube title use title case or sentence case?
Neither is enforced. Pick one and keep it — a channel whose titles are consistently cased reads as deliberate, and which convention you picked is not something anybody notices.
Does title case affect SEO?
No search engine treats capitalisation as a ranking signal. It affects whether a title looks edited, which is a real effect on a human and not one on a crawler.
Why does the tool ask me for proper nouns?
Because it cannot find them. Detecting that a capitalised word is a name rather than the first word of a sentence needs to know what the word means, and no case rule does.
