Overview
About this tool
Reads the Open Graph markup on any page the way Pinterest does and reports every required and optional tag for Article and Product Rich Pins — present, empty or missing — so a rejection becomes a list of things to add.
Instructions
How to use it
Paste the URL a Pin will link to and choose the Pin type. The score weights the required tags at four fifths — they are pass or fail — and the optional ones at one fifth, because they only polish a Pin that already validates.
og:type is the tag that fails most often
It has to say article or product, not website. Most themes ship website on every page, and Pinterest then treats a fully marked-up post as an ordinary link.
Questions
Frequently asked
What about Recipe Rich Pins?
Recipes need a full schema.org Recipe graph rather than Open Graph tags, which is a different check. This tool covers Article and Product.
I added the tags — how long until Pinterest sees them?
Apply once through Pinterest’s own validator after the tags are live. Approval is usually same-day, and it applies to the whole domain.
