Overview
About this tool
Renders a Pin at both sizes Pinterest uses: the cropped masonry tile, where only the start of the title survives and the description is invisible, and the closeup, where the description finally appears behind “more”.
Instructions
How to use it
Enter the title, description and image ratio. The two frames are the two places a Pin is seen, and they are not the same: the feed tile is a cropped image with a clipped title, and the description does not appear on it at all.
2:3 is the only ratio that never crops
A 1000 × 1500 Pin renders in full everywhere. Taller Pins are cut in the feed, and landscape Pins take so little vertical space that they are scrolled past.
Questions
Frequently asked
How long can a Pin title be?
A hundred characters, but the home feed tile shows roughly the first forty. Front-load the words that matter.
Does the description show in the feed?
No. It appears on the Pin closeup, and Pinterest indexes it for search — which is why it is worth writing even though the feed hides it.
