About this tool
Fills six classes of opening-line pattern with your subject — contradiction, result, cost, question, instruction, specificity — and names the obligation each class puts on the rest of the video. Deterministic: the same topic gives the same eighteen every time, so you can tell whether you improved the topic or just got a different roll.
Instructions
How to use it
Give it a noun phrase — “sourdough starters”, not “How to Make a Sourdough Starter”. Add who it is for if you have one; three of the eighteen get noticeably better with it.
Pick the class before the line
Each class makes a promise the rest of the video has to keep. A contradiction hook obliges you to say what everyone gets wrong and be right about it; a result hook obliges you to have the result. Picking a line whose promise your video cannot keep is the fastest way to lose the audience the line just earned.
There is no model behind this
It is a structured version of the blank page: shapes with your subject dropped into them. A viewer can tell the difference between a line written for them and a line filled in from a template, so rewrite the one you pick.
Questions
Frequently asked
What makes a good hook?
One that promises something the video actually delivers, in the fewest words. The class matters more than the wording: a shape that matches what you are about to say is most of the work.
How long should a video hook be?
Short enough to say in one breath — roughly seventy characters for short-form. A caption hook has to survive the fold instead, which is about ninety characters on TikTok and 125 on Instagram.
Why does it give the same hooks every time?
On purpose. A generator that shuffles feels cleverer and is useless for comparison — you cannot tell whether you improved the topic or just got a different roll.
Can I use these as written?
You can, and you should not. They are scaffolding. Rewriting the one you pick in your own words is the step that makes it yours.
